Summer Tips

You have to be careful these days with all the evidence of how harmful the sun’s rays can be on unprotected skin. The sun damages skin in three ways: premature aging, weakened immunity and a greated risk for developing skin cancer. Here are some smart tips for enjoying the sun this summer.

  • Avoid unnecessary sun exposure.
  • Minimize sun exposure between am and 3 pm.
  • Cover as much of your skin as possible by wearing a sun hat and light protective clothing.
  • Learn a trick from an old dog and head for the shade.
  • Drink plenty of pure water to replenish lost moisture before, during and after being out in the sun.
  • Apply a misturizer (aloe vera is excellent) following periods of sun exposure to prevent dryness. If you should burn, generously apply aloe vera gel to relieve pain and promote healing.
  • When in the sun always wear a broad-based sunscreen.
  • Make certain your sunscreen provides protection from both UVA and UVB rays.
  • Remember that the sun’s rays are intensified when reflected off water.
